π± Howard Gardening Maturity Model – Beyond job roles
Kicking off a new project called Howard Gardening stories.
π️ Starting August 1, I’ll resume sharing real stories of wonderful people I’ve met.
But before that I wanted to talk about the Howard Gardening Maturity Model that becomes the foundation for these stories.
The Howard Gardening Maturity Model is a five-level approach to help organisations tap into their people’s collective intelligence and grow vibrant, meaningful employee communities.
It’s about going beyond job roles — to recognise, nurture, and mobilise the hidden strengths, interests, and intelligences employees carry.
Here’s a glimpse of the five levels:
1️⃣ Essence of Being – Spot individual passions. Celebrate them.
2️⃣ Community in Bloom – Encourage interest-based employee groups to grow together.
3️⃣ Value to Organisation – Channel these communities to solve real business problems.
4️⃣ Purpose Beyond Work – Align with CSR goals to serve society.
5️⃣ Collective Intelligence Engine – Let communities become cultural beacons and brand ambassadors.
Most of my stories align with Level 1 & 2 — music, art, drama, compassion, Yoga … — the beauty beyond job descriptions.
But here’s my dream π: To see this model grow all the way to Level 5.
